His Word – Spirit and Life

The Word - Jesus Christ

Psalm  19:7-11 says, The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Times change, people change, the way we live changes, the way we perceive things change…all based on the ever-changing dynamics of a world that is ever evolving in its values, agendas, and philosophies of living.  Yet, there is something that never changes…the Word of God, the ways of God, the principles and laws of the spirit that are revealed to us in the pages of the written Word.  Thank God for the Bible, the written words of God given to us as a rock, a sure foundation, truths that are revealed to us in the person of Jesus and further revealed to us by the Holy Spirit as we walk in relationship with God our Father.

John 5:39-40 says, “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. “Jesus, the Living Word of God, reveals the written words of God.  There is an interchangeable dynamic that occurs when we come to the written words of God seeking to intermingle with the Divine.  We come to know the Lord, Jesus and His Father, our God through them.

Jesus said in John 6:63, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. “There is a divine mystery, an interaction, an exchange, that happens when we come to the written words of God in our relationship with the Living Word of God, Jesus.  His words are spirit, and they are life to us.  We are “partaking of the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4).

Romans 1:16-17 says, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith. This “gospel”, the preaching and proclaiming to the good news, these are the words given to us by those who were “moved by the Holy Ghost” to say what the Father was telling them to say.  These same words were preserved for us.  As we come to those same words, believing they are words of “spirit and life” and we exercise our faith in Him who is the Living Word, these words cause faith to arise in us toward our Father.  As we release our faith in Him, we are then encouraged, strengthened, and filled with a confidence in seeing His plans and purposes come to pass in our life.  Thank God for His Word!
