God Will Bring Order Out of Chaos

Posted by:

America is at a turning point. In surveying our history as a nation, we have been through transition before.  The one thing that has characterized us in going forward has always been our optimism for the future.  Our nation was birthed in turmoil and uncertainty.  The Civil war almost destroyed us, but the union prevailed.  Two world wars came and went and we are still intact.  The turbulent 60’s, which were very similar in tone with today’s political climate, left us to not only survive but thrive in the forty plus years since then.

In the face of all that our nation has faced and overcome, we have become largely cynical and pessimistic about our future.  Most Americans agree that our country is headed in a wrong direction.  We foolishly look to our politicians for relief and find none.  Yet, the chosen ones that will inevitably vie for the presidency accurately reflect a huge swath of our morals and values.  What will our future hold?  Can we be optimistic in the face of what we see?

The debate has raged over the origin and intent of our nation’s founding.  One thing is clear; we have been a blessed people.  God is the reason why.  He remains the reason why we will endure.  He is going to bring order out of chaos. He is orchestrating a work of revolution, reformation and restoration. But, as it is many times with His work, it will look worse before it gets better. Nevertheless He is working.

One major hindrance to believing He is working is our belief in a faulty teaching that the end is coming soon and we who are Christians are going to be rescued from this world. We have heard this, some of us, for most of our lives. There have been and continue to be, various prognosticators who believe they are proclaiming a word from God about the end of all things. Yet, in every case they are proven wrong by the obvious outcome of worldly events. When will we see the utter failure of this doctrine to equip us with hope for the future and a desire to be light in darkness?

We are hearing various church leaders proclaim that our country is being destroyed with no hope for the future. They are throwing in the towel instead of petitioning the Lord as Abraham did for Sodom. God was willing to spare Sodom for five righteous people! Do we not believe He is willing to spare America when there are many more righteous people crying out to Him for this nation? He is willing and He will!

Darkness seems to have the upper hand presently. But, in the darkness is the time for His church to shine bright. So, let us cast off the mistaken tone and attitude of giving up and take up our faith toward God again. He will awaken the church in our nation. Our best days are ahead! We are not being prepared to leave here but we are called to shine light in the midst of darkness. We do this by living our lives as the representatives of the King, Jesus. As we do, the world will see the reality that the kingdom of God is here and the King is among us. Selah.
